Bramblehedge's Persimmon in a cage for junior Thriantas - these
cages are a minimum of 30" long, 24" wide, and 16" high with a
corner shelf, toys, water bottle, feeder, and water crocks.
Thriantas do best with something soft to lay on, so Persimmon has
both hay to make a nest, and a soft "pet futon" from my friends in
Japan, Yukiko Nagashima and family!
Bramblehedge's Paco, playing in his hay.  He is in a herd sire cage,
which is 36" x 24" x 18" and has a corner shelf, and 2 hay racks
(one inside the cage, one outside).  He loves to play with his plastic
ball toy, tossing it into his water crock for a "hole in one!"
This weaning cage is a new style from Great Northern Cage Company
(
http://greatnortherncage.com) in Deer Park, Washington.  John and
Cindy Koppe have included 4-sided urine guards that serve as "baby
savers" - the extra deep pan is also a great time-saver, as you can use
lots of shavings to keep odors down.  This cage is 30" deep, 24" wide,
and 24" tall at the back.  The slant front allows you to easily reach the
kits without them jumping out.  Since this type of cage is best used as a
single row, or on top of a double row, it automatically insures that your
kits get great ventilation and natural lighting, as it's not practical to
stack a cage on top of this slant-front style.  I use white bathroom
wallboard on my rabbitry walls, which also keeps it bright - not only is
it easy to clean and it looks nice, but it makes color evaluation much
easier!
